Realities

I write poems whenever I feel like it. This is one of them.

Mask

Stare right into her eyes
And you'll see the dark corners of her world.

Stare right into her eyes
And you'll see the pain that resides in her heart.

Stare right into her eyes
And you'll see what she really feels.

Look beyond the face that shows you the glittering eyes and infectious smile.
Look beyond the words that tell you that everything is alright.

Because sometimes, we just need to let it all out.

Another poem I wrote a few years ago. I wrote this at 3:03 a.m., and I'm sure that this needs editing. But I'm too lazy to edit it right now, so I'll just post it as it is. Inspired by someone close to me.

And Then She Became Five Years Older

It's not her looks--
the face that can fool anyone
for them to think that she's a teenager,
nor her face free of make-up,
but the eyes that mirror her thoughts.

It's not the clothes--
for she wears what she wants
and eats when she wants.
Her body is the least of her worries.
What matters is that she breathes and lives.

It's not her actions
that makes you think she's innocent
and child-like most of the time,
nor her fascination and imagination,
but the subtle things she does that rarely catch your eye.

It's what she sees and how she feels.
For a child must open her eyes
to realize and accept what's in front of her.
To understand that it's in her hands
how the future unfolds.
And when she finally opens up,
that is when she grows.

And that was how she became 5 years older.

holding on for dear life

How do you face forward when all you can ever see is the past? You want to look at the bright future ahead, but all you can think about is going back to the past that you were once a part of, wanting to belong to a place that you're not sure if you're still accepted. True, the past is what shaped you for who you are now, but you also have to accept that you can never go back to change the way things they are. That's that, and you have nothing to do about it.

Everyone knows that you can't really change the past, or furthermore, go back to the past to change it. People you meet come and go, and, if one day, you lose them and never get a hold of them, who's to blame? My guess is that time did it, for it just comes and goes, not caring in the world who they hurt or affect the most. Hmm, who else is there to blame? The person? I guess so, for time and experience has made the person for who they are now, not who they were before. And time shows up once again to change your life. Sure, the feelings and memories mattered a lot, but that was the past, right? No matter how much you think you know that person, once you've been apart from each other for a long time, when you meet again, everything will be different. Unless, you both held on to it. Not wanting to lose what you have gained, you hold on to it. Distance is one of the biggest factors for ruining a relationship (and not just for couples, I tell you), as some people know, but like I said, it really does depend on whether they want it to work or not. If, at some point, you never wanted it to happen, and things just happened the way they are, who is to blame? Destiny? Fate? His plans? Is that how it works, or the other way around?

Going back to what I was talking about, the past is what makes a person who he is right now. He is different from others because he saw, felt and experienced something that others haven't. He met people that others haven't met, and he thinks this is an advantage on his part, for this is what makes him happy the most. But when the time comes for him to let go of that memory, I guess that would be the time for him to look forward into the future. But he would struggle to retain those memories, for him to not lose his identity and his past. It's hard, but that's just how it is.

I love Paulo Coelho, and I've already read four of his works (which I might write about in the future). I just thought of sharing this quote that I came across when I read Brida a while ago:

Finding one important thing in your life doesn't mean you have to give up all the other important things.

However you want to interpret it. Hope everyone would have a wonderful year ahead.

together forever?

'Hey, I've known you for xxx years. How can I hate you?' Uh huh. In most cases, this is what we usually tell them. But sometimes, this quote from Aesop can be used on these situations.
Familiarity breeds contempt.
What do you think? Actually, sometimes, the time that you spend with someone doesn't matter if you really want to know them. You may be friends with someone for 10 years and yet, not know every single detail about their life. It all depends on a person, really, if they want to open up to you and tell you their darkest secrets. Or if they trust you enough. This is also applicable to a family member that you have known for years and been close to. You have known them for a long time and accepted their imperfections, and these might annoy you, but hey, they are your family after all. And to someone you have known for so long, you treat them as family.

How do you know if at one point in your life, you become disdainful of one person because of his or her actions and character?  And this hatred that you feel might go away, or be repressed, because you will feel guilty about it, but sooner or later they will show their true selves once again. Would your hatred resurface? And once you see this person's faults, you judge them on what they do. You may ask for forgiveness, for you don't really want to experience this cold feeling especially if you treasure this person. And also, you have known this person very well for a long time, you've seen their true colours, and yet, sometimes, you just can't help but despise them. Which you sincerely hope would vanish someday.

It's quite amazing and scary on how relationships work. When a person makes a mistake, different feelings arise. The emotions are jumbled all together, confusing one's self on what to show and hide. But it all depends on a person, really, on how they handle it. It's either they make it work and last long (accepting the flaws and all), or end it before a huge conflict happens. But most of all, we have to learn to forgive. That way, the repressed feelings of hatred and contempt would soon fade. It may take long, but at least, effort has been made on your part.

aww moments

Just when you thought you've had enough of 'aww moments', here I go with my own version. Once in a while, when I watch a drama, or a movie, or read a book, I come across with these lines (or quotes, as I'd like to call them) and out of the blue I decided to post it here on this blog so I can look back on them (and be all mushy and sentimental? please. I've had enough of that with the dramas I watch, thank you very much.) and share these to you as well. And all the credits will be given to them, of course, I'll even rack my brains just to remember where I took it. And I would be posting more in the future, when a line strucks me or if it reminds me of something.

Poster from the 2009 Korean drama Boys over Flowers Gu Jun Pyo (Lee Min Ho) and Guem JanDi (Gu Hye Sun) ep4; edited using Picnik

But there is no logic in love.
Falling in love is an irrational thing.
Even just by falling in love with someone, you'll hurt people, and you'll get hurt yourself.
To be truly in love with someone, you have to be ready to put your life at risk.
+ Hana Yori Dango Returns, ep4, Nishikado Soujiro (Matsuda Shota)

Love in the past never changes
because it remains in your heart forever.
+ Heartbreak Library, Cho Eun Soo (Eugene)

What do you think love is?
Love knows no past and no future,
it is just a means to connect at the very moment
when you feel your heart swelling with love with the next moment right here and now.
+ Innocent Love, ep10, Akiyama Kanon (Horikita Maki)

Being in love itself holds a great meaning even if it didn't work out.
The moment you fall in love, that feeling will always remain inside of you.
+ Tokyo Love Story, ep , Akana Rika (Suzuki Honami)

A man wants to be a woman's first love.
But a woman wants to be a man's last love.
+ Proposal Daisakusen, ep , Yosei/Fairy (Mikami Hiroshi)

Fireworks are not fun at all when you're watching them by yourself.
Fireworks disappear right away, but it's something to see with your friends.
Even if you forget the colors and shapes of the fireworks,
You will always remember the faces of the friends next to you.
+ Honey and Clover Japan, ep , Ayumi's father

When it comes to precious memories,
the more you go back to them, the more important they get.
+ Bokura Ga Ita manga, Nanami Takahashi

The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.
+ Moulin Rouge!, Toulouse-Lautrec (John Leguizamo)

I like you. Maybe. Probably.
+ 1 litre of Tears, ep9, Haruto Asou (Nishikido Ryo)

note: I have my reasons for including the last line from the Japanese drama 1 Litre of Tears. First off, I'm a Ryo fangirl. Second, the last scene in ep9 is worth watching with its 'aww moment' , and its not just because of this line, but because he mentioned something that's even better than this, which I will not post, and for you to find out, if you are curious. (The drama is really worth watching, by the way.)
